A meeting dedicated to improving work in the field of migration in line with the requirements of the times was held at the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan. The meeting discussed the main areas for developing the Service’s activities in accordance with the requirements of national legislation and international legal norms.
The meeting was attended by heads of Turkmenistan’s diplomatic missions abroad, as well as heads and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions operating in Turkmenistan. During the event, information was presented on ongoing work in the field of migration, the results of international cooperation, and the introduction of modern services.
At present, migration issues around the world are changing in line with the requirements of the times. In this regard, improving migration procedures, developing international cooperation, and enhancing the quality of services provided to the population are among the important areas.
Diplomatic missions and consular institutions serve as an important link between the state and citizens. Therefore, it is particularly important to keep the diplomatic corps informed about the work being carried out in Turkmenistan in the field of migration, electronic visa services, online registration of foreign citizens, and other services.
The main areas of the Migration Service’s activities include visa processing, registration of foreign citizens, issuance of passports containing biometric data, and work related to citizenship and statelessness issues. Expanding the use of digital technologies in these areas has also been identified as one of the key tasks.
The meeting particularly emphasized the importance of modern information technologies and digital systems in improving the quality of services provided to the population. The widespread use of digital solutions makes it possible to provide services more quickly and conveniently.
Particular attention is also being paid to improving the professional qualifications of employees of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, studying international experience, and mastering innovative technologies and the capabilities of artificial intelligence.
The speakers noted that since 2008, Turkmenistan has been the first country in the region to introduce passports containing biometric data that meet international requirements. At present, work is underway to improve the processing of electronic visas through the capabilities of the digital system.
During the event, a presentation was given on the current state of the activities of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan and the areas for its further development. Participants exchanged views on modernizing migration services, developing international cooperation, and broadly implementing digital solutions.
The meeting identified relevant areas for the effective implementation of the tasks set, as well as for actively adopting modern practices and innovative technologies.
