A book is a fountain of knowledge. From this perspective, reading and studying this treasure, as well as caring for the education of the youth, has become a noble tradition from the past to the present day. The Turkmen people have always viewed science, education, and books with great interest, raising the younger generation with these dignified principles.
Books are inextricably linked to science and education, forming the basis of human progress and determining the future of any state and the destiny of its people. In this regard, it is important to note the extensive work being carried out in our country to modernize library operations.
Throughout 2026—celebrated as the year of "Independent, Neutral Turkmenistan - Land of Prosperity"—organized efforts are being made in the libraries of educational institutions in the Lebap region to appropriately welcome national holidays and promote the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's Independence. This follows the "State Program for the Development of the Library System in Turkmenistan for 2025-2029."
Recently, the Lebap Regional Main Education Department organized a special practical session for school librarians from the city of Turkmenabat at the Lebap Regional Library. During the session, regional library staff provided valuable advice on the methodology of organizing modern book exhibitions and conducting events dedicated to significant dates. School librarians toured the exhibition halls, observed the modern displays, and exchanged ideas on how to foster a passion for reading among the youth.
