On February 10, the Embassy of Italy in Turkmenistan lowered the flags of Italy and the European Union in observance of Memorial Day.
This day commemorates the victims of tragic events on Italy’s eastern borders during and after World War II. It remembers the victims of executions in karst pits as well as the mass migration of people from the Istria and Dalmatia regions.
The embassy’s official statement emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of Italian citizens who lost their lives during that time.
