
On the afternoon of February 25, 2026, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Mrs. Odile Renaud-Basso. The parties discussed issues of expanding financial and investment partnership and the implementation of joint projects.
Rashid Meredov noted that in its economic development strategy, Turkmenistan attaches special importance to strengthening ties with reputable financial institutions. In this regard, the effective nature of the country's long-standing cooperation with the EBRD was emphasized. In turn, Odile Renaud-Basso confirmed the bank's interest in further expanding mutually beneficial contacts.
The meeting participants paid special attention to the formation of the "East-West" international transport corridor. The Turkmen side expressed its readiness to consider specific EBRD proposals for participation in initiatives in this direction. Also, increasing partnership in the energy sector, including projects in the field of sustainable energy, was identified among the priorities.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in the further progressive development of bilateral relations and exchanged best wishes.
