Between March 1 and 6, 2026, with the support of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Türkiye, members of the "Arkadag" football club fan group climbed Mount Agri (Ararat), the highest point in Türkiye.
This initiative was organized in honor of the declaration of 2026 as the year of "Independent, eternally Neutral Turkmenistan — the land of horses with unstoppable pace," as well as the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's Independence. The event aimed to develop sports diplomacy, promote a healthy lifestyle, and strengthen patriotism and national values.
The mountaineering expedition was led by experienced climber and group leader Agajan Ovlyagulyyev. Over six days, the participants overcame difficult routes and harsh weather conditions of the high mountains, demonstrating a high level of preparation, unity, and determination.
Upon reaching the summit of Mount Agri at an altitude of 5,137 meters, the State Flag of Turkmenistan, the emblem of "Arkadag" football club, and the symbol of the year 2026 were solemnly unveiled. This sporting event became a symbol of respect for national values and sporting achievements, and an expression of commitment to the principles of peace, friendship, and cooperation between nations.
Furthermore, it should be noted that with the support of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Türkiye, fan clubs of "Arkadag" FC were established in Ankara and Antalya following the initiative of Turkmen students studying in Turkish universities and sports fans.
This step is clear evidence of the growing international interest in "Arkadag" football club and confirms the active participation of Turkmen youth in developing cultural and sporting relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Türkiye.
