
The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, met with King Charles III on Sunday as part of his visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This historic meeting, held at Windsor Castle, became another proof of the high-level friendly relations between the two countries.
According to information provided by the "Watan" news program, Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice President for Medical Affairs of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Fund for Assistance to Children in Need of Care, was also among the high-ranking guests.
King Charles III welcomed the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan with special respect and emphasized that it is a great honor for him to meet with the Leader, who has gained immense prestige in the world and is recognized as an eminent politician and Arkadag.
The Monarch fondly recalled his first meeting with Hero-Arkadag, which took place in 2015 within the framework of events held at the Çanakkale memorial complex in Turkey, noting that those moments left unforgettable impressions.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan expressed his gratitude for the hospitality and kind words, and conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to King Charles III.
In turn, the King of Great Britain also noted that he always remembers with warm feelings the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to the capital of Great Britain in 2023.
Speaking about the equestrian culture, King Charles III stated that he highly appreciates the world fame of Turkmen Akhal-Teke horses. He emphasized a great interest in further strengthening cooperation between the two states through these magnificent values.
The British monarch also added that they look forward to the outstanding performances of Turkmen Akhal-Teke horses at the international equestrian sports events to be organized in Great Britain next year.
The historically significant moments of the London visit were not limited to this. The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, also held a meeting with one of the prominent representatives of the British royal family—the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward—and discussed promising areas of mutual cooperation.
At the end of the visit, Hero-Arkadag presented commemorative gifts to King Charles III and the Duke of Edinburgh, and invited members of the British royal family to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan.
As it is known, this year Turkmenistan celebrates the glorious 35th anniversary of its Independence, and on this occasion, large-scale festive celebrations, including equestrian sports competitions, are planned in the country. As noted in Windsor, this invitation was accepted by the British side with great gratitude. Following the official send-off ceremony, the plane of the Turkmenistan delegation departed for the city of Ashgabat.
