
The roadmap for the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan (TOP) electricity transmission project has been fully prepared and will soon be sent to the Turkmen side, Abdul Bari Omar, CEO of Afghanistan’s energy company, said following talks with Turkmenistan. The report was released by TOLOnews on Saturday.
During the discussions, the parties reviewed the overall progress of the TOP project and the next steps. Abdul Bari Omar also provided information on plans to use natural gas to generate electricity under the TOPH project and emphasized the need for a final agreement on gas prices.
The Afghan energy company CEO confirmed Turkmenistan’s full readiness for cooperation and highlighted the significance of the TOP and TOPH projects for the energy partnership and economic interests of both countries.
On October 20, 2025, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, blessed the next section of the “Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India” gas pipeline from Serhetabat to Herat Province in Afghanistan under the “Arkadag’s White Path” initiative.
