
57-year-old Kenta Kon, who previously headed the corporation’s finance department, has been appointed as the new President and CEO of Toyota Motor. He will assume his new role in April.
The current company leader, 56-year-old Koji Sato, will become Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors and will focus all his attention on representative and public duties, such as leading the Japan Business Federation and the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association.
Kenta Kon has been working at Toyota since 1991 and specializes in finance and accounting. At the same time, Sato participated in the production and development of hybrid models in the luxury Lexus line. Kon will now oversee the overall operations of the corporation.
In 2025, Toyota Motor sold 11.32 million vehicles worldwide, setting a new record. This represents a 4.6% growth and surpasses Volkswagen, which sold 8.98 million cars for six consecutive years.
