Toyota has introduced an updated Avalon sedan for the Chinese market. The new version of the model combines the latest design features of the Toyota Camry and Toyota Crown. The updated Avalon has now undergone its third exterior redesign.

According to Carscoops, the new model retains both gasoline and hybrid powertrains. After the Avalon was discontinued in the US market in 2022, the model has continued to be produced in China on the production line of the FAW Toyota joint venture.

The main changes to the updated sedan are reflected in its exterior design. The front end of the vehicle has been brought closer to the design solutions of the current-generation Toyota Camry. It now features C-shaped LED headlights, a larger grille with vertical elements, and a more sporty front bumper.

Although the side profile of the vehicle has not changed significantly, customers will be offered new 17- and 18-inch wheel designs. The rear of the sedan also shows the influence of the Toyota Crown.

The previous full-width light bar has been replaced with separate lamps featuring a new design. The Avalon lettering has also been moved from the decorative trim panel to the trunk lid. Changes have also been made to the rear bumper design and the location of the license plate area.

The updated Avalon will be offered in two body variants with different dimensions. Their lengths will be 4,990 and 5,055 millimeters, respectively.

The standard version of the vehicle will use a 2.0-liter gasoline engine. This powertrain produces 152 horsepower. The Avalon will also retain its HEV hybrid version with a combined output of up to 186 horsepower. The hybrid version is rated at an average fuel consumption of 4.31 liters per 100 kilometers.

The updated Avalon has been brought closer in design to Toyota’s latest models and is aimed at strengthening its position in the sedan segment of the Chinese market.
