
On March 10–11, 2026, a training workshop on payments for member countries of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) from Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in Tbilisi, organized by the UPU International Bureau.
The opening ceremony featured speeches by E. Kubusidze, Head of the Communications, Information, and Modern Technologies Department of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, K. Aleksidze, a representative of the UPU Regional Office in Tbilisi, and others.
M. Atayev, Head of the International Relations Department of the "Türkmenpoçta" postal service company under the "Türkmenaragatnaşyk" Agency, participated in the workshop.
This training seminar is aimed at enhancing the technical knowledge of postal operators in Europe and the CIS regarding UPU payment systems for letters, small packets, and their delivery.
Over the course of two days, participants were introduced to the features and practical implementation of new payment systems introduced as a result of key decisions on the Integrated Remittance System (ITU) adopted at the 28th UPU Congress.
This workshop stands as a significant initiative aimed at strengthening postal security throughout the region.
