Turkmen and Georgian Scientists Jointly Study Ancient Manuscripts
A scientific delegation from Turkmenistan has begun an important working visit to the capital of Georgia to conduct a scholarly study of the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Turkmen people. Starting from April 6, scientists from the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature, and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan commenced research activities at the Korneli Kekelidze Georgian National Centre of Manuscripts.
This scientific cooperation is being carried out within the framework of implementing the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding between the leading scientific centers of the two countries.
Key Areas of Research Activities: During this month-long scientific trip, Turkmen orientalists will study rare oriental manuscripts and historical documents preserved in Georgia's rich archives. The main tasks facing the scientists include:
- Analysis of Rare Specimens: Uncovering new information related to the history and literature of the Turkmen people;
- Restoration and Digitalization: Using modern restoration methods to preserve ancient manuscripts and creating digital copies;
- Cataloging: Preparing a scientifically annotated list of the discovered treasures to make them accessible to researchers and the general public.
As noted in the report, the Georgian National Centre of Manuscripts possesses a unique archival collection. The study of these treasures by Turkmen specialists will create opportunities to open new, previously unknown pages in the history of Oriental literature and science.
