
Young tennis players of Turkmenistan completed their performances with brilliant success at the West and Central Asia U-14 Tennis Championship, held in Manama, Bahrain, with representatives from 13 countries.
According to the results of the two-week "ITF Asia 14&U Development Championships," which serves as a qualifying round for the 2027 Junior "Wimbledon" and "Australian Open," our compatriots managed to climb the top step of the podium twice in both singles and doubles events.
In the singles events, Nazli Hudaygulyyewa, a 7th-grade student at Secondary School No. 87 in Ashgabat, won two gold medals. Trained by Meylis Orazmuhammedow and Yuriy Rogusskiy, she defeated Ayasofia Gokashau (Jordan) 0:6, 6:1, 6:3 in the first week's final. In the second week, she defeated Talia Al-Armuti (Jordan) 6:2, 6:0, Mariam Kamareddine (Lebanon) 6:3, 6:2, and won the final match against Ayasofia Gokashau with a score of 6:3, 6:2.
Nazli also achieved great success in doubles with Sulgun Ishangulyyewa, who trains under the Honored Coach of Turkmenistan Jennet Hallyyewa and Yuriy Rogusskiy. In the first week's final, Nazli and Sulgun defeated Maria El Hachach and Mariam Kamareddine of Lebanon 6:3, 7:5. In the second week, the Turkmen duo defeated Jana Hakim and Fatima Albaajari (Saudi Arabia) 6:2, 6:2 in the semi-finals, and in the match for 1st place, they beat the Lebanese pair Kamareddine/El Hachach 6:3, 6:3.
As the absolute champion of the two-week tournament series with four gold medals, Nazli Hudaygulyyewa officially confirmed her leading status and qualified for the final stage of the Asian Championship. Currently, the 13-year-old tennis player ranks 9th in the Asian U-14 junior rankings.
The 2026 Asian Championship (ITF Asia 14&U Development Championships) is a prestigious regional competition. The best athletes will compete in the final stage for the right to participate in the 2027 "Wimbledon" and "Australian Open" junior tournaments.
