Turkmenistan’s Master of Sports Faris Aliyev is preparing to compete at the Open World Powerlifting Championship, which will be held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. The World Championship will take place from October 23 to 26.
The Turkmen athlete earned the right to participate in the international competition thanks to his success at the Asian Championship held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, in August this year. At the competition, held from August 6 to 9, Faris Aliyev won the gold medal and secured a qualification spot for the World Championship.
Faris Aliyev competes in the up-to-93-kilogram weight category. In this category, athletes compete in the three main powerlifting disciplines — the squat, bench press and deadlift.
The gold medal won at the Asian Championship in Tashkent not only demonstrated the high level of preparation of the Turkmen powerlifter but also gave him the opportunity to compete at a world-level event.
Strong athletes from different countries around the world are expected to compete in the up-to-93-kilogram weight category. Achieving success in this category requires a high level of physical preparation, strict discipline and technical proficiency.
