An international research internship dedicated to artificial intelligence applications, methane emission reduction, and renewable energy technologies is underway at Clausthal University of Technology in Germany. Organized by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the program runs from July 25 to August 16, 2026.

The delegation from Turkmenistan includes a specialist from the Ministry of Energy, faculty and researchers from the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan and the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, as well as representatives from the Natural Gas Research Institute and the "Turkmengaz" State Concern.

The primary objective of the visit is to acquire international expertise in integrating innovative digital technologies, such as AI and machine learning, into industrial and energy systems. The program also emphasizes enhancing the efficiency of renewable energy sources and supporting environmental sustainability.

Currently, the Turkmen specialists are working alongside German professors and researchers at Clausthal University to study core principles of AI, anomaly detection methods, neural networks, and practical approaches to implementing AI in industrial production.

Over the coming days, the specialists will participate in joint research projects at the university's research centers focusing on well integrity, deep drilling operations, and photovoltaic system modeling. Field visits to major industrial sites—including a sulfur gas processing plant and solar and wind power plants—are also planned.

The participation of Turkmen representatives in this program reflects the country's ongoing commitment to implementing state policies aimed at developing a "green economy," engineering innovation, digital technologies, and alternative energy. This visit is expected to significantly strengthen international scientific cooperation.
