Galkan Rahmanov, a weightlifter representing the national team of Turkmenistan, secured third place in the clean and jerk discipline at the Asian Junior Weightlifting Championship (under 20) held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Competing in the up to 85 kg category, the Turkmen athlete achieved the third-best result by successfully lifting 155 kg in the clean and jerk. In the total sum of two exercises, he scored 342 kg, placing fifth overall.
The Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent feature over 300 athletes from 29 countries across the region, running through August 14. In line with International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) regulations, athletes can simultaneously compete across two age brackets: Youth (under 17) and Junior (under 20).
Turkmenistan is represented at this championship by a squad of 16 weightlifters, comprising seven male and nine female athletes.
