Turkmen weightlifter Atabek Azamatov won the silver medal in the youth category up to 60 kg at the Asian Weightlifting Championship taking place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

In the combined total of two lifts, the Turkmen athlete achieved a result of 245 kilograms, securing second place on the podium behind the competition winner, Jheric Icon Castro of the Philippines, who lifted 260 kilograms. Another Filipino weightlifter, Kirby Kent Alas-As, took the bronze medal with a total of 243 kilograms.

In the snatch discipline, Azamatov lifted 113 kilograms to secure second place and earn a small silver medal. In the clean and jerk, his result of 132 kilograms placed him fifth in that specific exercise.
