
From January 29 to February 1 of this year, the 37th International Freestyle Wrestling Tournament dedicated to the memory of two-time Olympic champion and Honored Master of Sports of the USSR Ivan Yarygin will be held in Krasnoyarsk, Russian Federation.
Turkmenistan will be represented by six athletes at this prestigious competition. Among them is Alp Arslan Begendjov, the U20 World Champion. The high level of the tournament is determined not only by the number of participants, but also by the exceptional skill of the wrestlers.
Athletes from 20 countries will take part in the international tournament alongside Turkmenistan, including Belarus, Bulgaria, India, China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Cuba, Mongolia, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkey, the Republic of Korea, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Egypt, North Macedonia, the DPRK, Brazil, and the host country, the Russian Federation.
The Ivan Yarygin Cup is considered one of the largest wrestling competitions in Russia, ranking second in importance after the national championship.
The intense bouts will continue for four days, with the final results to be announced on February 1. The closing day will feature the award ceremony for the winners and the official closing of the tournament.
