
On February 10, a working meeting was held at the international news agency “Russia Today” dedicated to information exchange within the framework of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in 2026. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
The meeting was attended by Andrey Blagodirenko, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of “Russia Today” and Director of the “Sputnik” multimedia centers in the Near Abroad and Baltic countries, Gülälek Chopanova, Press Attaché of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation, and Svetlana Malinina, Head of the Press Service of the CIS Executive Committee.
During the meeting, the main focus was on the role of the “Sputnik” agency in widely covering events within the framework of Turkmenistan’s CIS chairmanship in 2026. The parties discussed tools for strengthening ties between the mass media of member states, joint content creation, and expert exchanges. Participants emphasized the importance of promoting a creative agenda and shaping an objective and positive image of the CIS internationally.
At the end of the meeting, readiness was confirmed to implement joint media projects that contribute to closer relations between peoples and promote Turkmenistan’s cultural and economic initiatives within the CIS space.
