On Tuesday, the leadership of the Ministry of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan held a meeting in Ashgabat with representatives of the European Investment Bank. During the talks, the parties discussed the project for modernizing the 522-kilometer "Ashgabat – Dashoguz" railway line. This was reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.
The project aims to increase the throughput capacity of the section connecting the southern and northern regions of the country, as well as to strengthen Turkmenistan's transit potential within international transport and logistics routes.
The parties discussed strategic directions for cooperation, possible mechanisms for financing priority infrastructure projects, and issues regarding the technical re-equipment of the railway system.
As noted in the report, cooperation with international financial institutions is seen as a key condition for modernizing the national transport infrastructure. The implementation of joint initiatives will allow for the renewal of the sector's material and technical base and ensure that railway corridors comply with international standards for safety and efficiency.
