
Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, held a meeting with the U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkmenistan, Elizabeth Rood. During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian fields.
The diplomats particularly emphasized the effectiveness of the long-term activities of American companies in Turkmenistan and the implementation of joint business projects in the electricity, agriculture, and transport sectors, including cooperation with John Deere, General Electric, and Boeing. This was reported by Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.
The parties also noted the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, including annual political consultations and meetings of the Turkmenistan–U.S. Business Council. Opportunities for expanding cooperation in high-technology and banking-financial sectors were discussed.
Special attention was paid to cooperation in the fields of education, science, and culture, and to the creation of new formats of interaction. The Turkmen side proposed the initiative to establish a Turkmen-American cultural dialogue.
At the end of the meeting, the diplomats confirmed their readiness to further develop cooperation in a clearer and more multifaceted manner, in line with the interests of both countries and the goals of regional development.
