Turkmenistan and Zimbabwe Identify New Areas of Cooperation

Political consultations were held in Ashgabat between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Zimbabwe. Following the meetings held at the level of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and relevant deputies, a Protocol was signed, establishing the legal foundation for a regular diplomatic dialogue.

The arrival of the delegation from the Republic of Zimbabwe, led by Albert Ranganai Chimbindi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, opens new opportunities for Turkmen business and diplomacy on the African continent.

During the meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and Albert Chimbindi, it was noted that the countries already possess an experience of constructive cooperation within the UN framework. Ashgabat and Harare aim to continue supporting each other's international initiatives and coordinating their views on global security and sustainable development issues.

During the extensive consultations led by Deputy Minister Serdar Muhammetdurdyýew from the Turkmen side, the parties identified specific sectors for partnership:

• Agro-industrial complex and Energy: Exchange of technologies and experience in agriculture, which is a strategic priority for both nations.
• Textile Industry: Given Turkmenistan's powerful textile industry, this area is viewed as one of the most promising directions.
• Business Forums: The parties agreed not to limit themselves to the state sector but to establish direct contacts between business communities by organizing joint exhibitions and fairs.

The humanitarian agenda covered the fields of education, sports, and tourism. Zimbabwe, known for its magnificent natural beauty (including Victoria Falls), expressed interest in exchanging experience in developing tourism infrastructure and organizing mutual cultural events.

The signed Protocol on political consultations elevates Turkmen-Zimbabwean relations to a level of systematic cooperation, where pragmatic economic interests are reinforced by mutual trust on the global stage.
