Turkmenistan has officially approved the Procedure for the Import and Export of Fauna Objects, Their Parts, and Derived Products, including species classified as rare or endangered. The regulations were formally established under Order No. 140-Ö issued by the Minister of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan on July 14, 2026, and published on the official website of the Ministry of Justice of Turkmenistan.

According to the document, the main purposes for bringing animals into or out of the territory of Turkmenistan include:

  • Scientific research activities;

  • Participation in international exhibitions and trade fairs;

  • Inter-zoo exchanges (including rare and endangered species);

  • Personal purposes (keeping as household pets).

The regulation emphasizes that all legal entities and individuals importing or exporting animals must strictly comply with veterinary and sanitary safety standards, regulatory procedures, and hygiene benchmarks.
