As part of Turkmenistan's policy to develop digital technologies and integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into various sectors, significant importance is attached to expanding international cooperation. In this regard, Turkmen specialists and creative teams are invited to participate in the first international AI film festival to be held in Kazakhstan.

The Astana AI Film Festival (AAIFF 2026) will bring together media representatives, creative teams, and independent authors from around the world. The festival opens up new opportunities to present films created using artificial intelligence technologies to the global community.

The main theme of the competition has been announced as "A Future Worth Living." Participants must express their vision of the future using the capabilities of AI through a short film with a duration of up to 10 minutes.

The open competition section will be held in the following categories:

  • Best Director;

  • Best Visual Solution;

  • Most Impactful Story;

  • Most Interesting Concept;

  • Best Character Development.

Films submitted for the competition must be created using Full AI technology. The total prize fund is 1 million US dollars.

The organizers emphasize that special attention will be paid to compliance with copyright laws. The submitted works will be evaluated by international experts, directors, producers, and representatives of the creative technology industry. The preliminary selection stage also envisions the use of an AI-based jury system.

As a result, the 25 best films will be selected. Of these, 10 will compete in the main competition, and 15 in the open category.

Applications for participation in the festival are accepted until August 15, 2026. The awarding ceremony for the winners and film screenings will take place during the Astana AI Week held in Astana from September 28 to October 1.

The participation of Turkmen specialists in this international festival will help promote national digital content globally, exchange experience with foreign colleagues, establish new partnerships, and master leading practices in the field of artificial intelligence. This international event will also contribute to further enhancing Turkmenistan's reputation as a country open to innovative technologies and possessing high creative potential.
