Innovative technologies aimed at increasing production efficiency and more rational use of underground resources are being widely introduced in the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan. Among them, the "smart" well technology, which allows for remote monitoring and management of well operations, is of particular importance.
The introduction of this technology is one of the key areas of ongoing work to modernize Turkmenistan's oil and gas complex, increase production capacity, and raise the efficiency of developing hydrocarbon fields.
The "smart" well system is a complex comprising measuring equipment located at the bottom of the well, actuators, and a surface digital control system. With its help, it becomes possible to continuously monitor the pressure and temperature of formations in the well, as well as remotely regulate the production flow.
One of the important features of the technology is the use of measuring equipment operating under high temperature and high pressure conditions. Information obtained through sensitive quartz elements placed in the bottom-hole zone of the well is transmitted in digital form to a surface recording device. This method creates conditions to prevent damage to downhole electronic equipment from the effects of high temperatures.
The system's structure includes high-precision quartz manometers and thermometers, as well as a distributed "Thermocouple" system that monitors temperature changes in various parts of the well. Meanwhile, electric valves used to regulate the flow allow production zones to be isolated from each other and their operation to be managed in the required mode.
The use of autonomous energy sources by surface control equipment creates conditions for the effective application of the technology even in remote fields. In particular, the energy system provided through solar panels and wind generators contributes to the reliable operation of production facilities located in desert areas.
The "smart" well technology is of particular importance for Turkmenistan's gas and gas condensate fields. Through the system, it is possible to timely identify watered-out sections of the well, isolate various production zones, and regulate the flow. This method also helps prevent issues such as hydrate formation and ensures the stable operation of the well.
According to specialists, the use of new technologies makes it possible to strengthen control over the operation of wells under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions, and to manage production more efficiently at remote fields. Such solutions create conditions for more coordinated reservoir development and increased gas extraction efficiency.
The introduction of "smart" well technology into production is a continuation of work on digitalization and the use of innovative solutions in Turkmenistan's oil and gas sector. New technologies in this area make it possible to develop the production of our country's hydrocarbon resources on a more modern, efficient, and sustainable basis.
