
From February 3 to 5, the Executive Committee of the Asian Blind Union (ABU) holds its meeting in Kuwait. The delegation of Turkmenistan’s Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired, led by ABU Executive Committee member Merdan Reyimov, is taking part in the forum.
Representatives from relevant organizations of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Jordan, and other Asian countries are participating. The main goal of the meeting is to review completed work and determine development directions for the organization.
During the meetings, the strategic planning of activities for 2026 and the development concept of the Asian Blind Union are discussed. A working group was established to propose amendments to the organization’s Constitution.
The program includes thematic sessions focused on public sector marketing, supporting entrepreneurship among people with visual impairments, and implementing assistive technologies. A special session addresses the participation of women with visual impairments in public life.
The Asian Blind Union works to protect the rights of people with visual impairments in the region and ensure their full participation in social life.
