Turkmenistan is putting forward an initiative to develop an international code for the peaceful and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in international relations and diplomacy. This proposal is reflected in the document outlining Turkmenistan's priorities at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
The document notes that the rapid development of digital technologies and artificial intelligence has become one of the most important areas of the current international agenda. In this regard, Turkmenistan proposes the creation of an international code under the auspices of the UN to ensure that artificial intelligence is used exclusively for peaceful purposes in international relations and diplomacy.
This initiative aims to establish common international principles for the use of AI technologies, support their responsible application, and strengthen digital trust among states.
Furthermore, an international expert dialogue dedicated to issues of digital trust and responsible use of artificial intelligence is planned to be held in the city of Ashgabat under the auspices of the UN. This forum is expected to serve as an important platform for international specialists to exchange views and develop effective proposals regarding issues related to the capabilities of artificial intelligence.
Another of Turkmenistan's initiatives is the continued support for the activities of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia. Proceeding from this goal, Turkmenistan plans to submit a draft resolution titled "The Role of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia" for consideration by the UN General Assembly.
Turkmenistan's proposals are aimed at strengthening international cooperation amidst the development of digital technologies, creating common principles for the peaceful and responsible use of new technologies, and enhancing the significance of preventive diplomacy in Central Asia.
