Young weightlifters from Turkmenistan successfully performed at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, winning a total of 10 medals.

Athletes of the national team of Turkmenistan won one gold and four silver medals in the youth category, and two silver and three bronze medals in the junior category. Thus, the total number of medals won by Turkmen athletes reached 10.

One of the most successful athletes in the national team was Shabnam Kerimbayeva. She competed in the up to 53 kg weight category in both the youth and junior divisions.

In the youth category, Shabnam Kerimbayeva won a silver medal in the snatch with a result of 83 kg and a gold medal in the clean and jerk with 103 kg. With a total of 186 kg in both exercises, she won another silver medal. In the junior category, the Turkmen athlete also won silver medals in the snatch and clean and jerk, and a bronze medal in the total score.

Competing in the up to 60 kg weight category, Atabek Azamatow lifted 113 kg in the snatch. Furthermore, his total result of 245 kg in the two exercises earned him a silver medal in the youth category.

Competing in the up to 69 kg weight category, Medine Amanowa lifted 121 kg in the clean and jerk, winning a bronze medal in this exercise among juniors.

Rahman Galkanow, competing in the up to 85 kg weight category, was also among the athletes who brought medals to Turkmenistan's team. He won a bronze medal in the snatch with a result of 155 kg.

Alongside the Asian Championship, representatives of Turkmenistan also successfully performed at the Central Asian Championship held concurrently. Turkmen athletes won three gold and three silver medals in this competition, adding a total of six awards to their account.

Over 300 young athletes from 29 countries participated in the continental competitions held in Tashkent. Turkmenistan's national team took 9th place among youth and 10th place among juniors in terms of total medals.

The results of the competition demonstrate that the younger generation of the Turkmen weightlifting school has great potential for successful performances at international-level competitions.
