As part of his visit to the USA, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, met with the President of "Nicklaus Companies," John Reese, and representatives of the company’s leadership. During the meeting, the current state of bilateral relations and issues regarding the further development of cooperation were discussed.
John Reese emphasized his great pleasure in seeing the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and stated that he always recalls his visit to Turkmenistan with great pride. He also highlighted that the architectural harmony of Ashgabat, which has entered a path of balanced development in all directions, left a positive impression on him.
Hero Arkadag expressed gratitude for the kind words and stated that Turkmenistan attaches significant importance to the development of high-performance sports, recreation, and tourism. This is considered a strategic direction for universal sustainable development in our country. In this regard, it was noted that a modern infrastructure for sports and tourism has been established in Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, designs for golf courses built with the participation of "Nicklaus Companies" were showcased. It was noted that golf courses, combining sport and leisure, are recognized as an important condition for maintaining ecological standards and adopting innovative solutions in this field.
Hero Arkadag noted the positive experience of cooperation with "Nicklaus Companies," a world leader in its field, and mentioned plans to build modern golf courses in the city of Arkadag and the "Awaza" National Tourist Zone.
Stating that the golf course built in Ashgabat has gained great popularity among city residents, especially the youth, Hero Arkadag drew attention to Turkmenistan's readiness to study the proposals of the partner company regarding the construction of such new centers.
The President of "Nicklaus Companies," which actively participates in the implementation of significant projects in healthcare and sports, emphasized that it is a great honor for them to cooperate with Turkmenistan—a reliable global partner with a provided legislative base for developing international relations—and to implement joint projects.
John Reese also invited Hero Arkadag to familiarize himself with several projects deemed important for construction in the "Awaza" National Tourist Zone and the city of Arkadag.
Hero Arkadag closely examined the presented projects and noted that building golf courses in Arkadag and Awaza would complement the social facilities being built en masse across the country. He expressed confidence in the further development of productive relations with "Nicklaus Companies."
John Reese emphasized that the state-level importance given to the development of golf in Turkmenistan is very encouraging. He noted his company’s keen interest in presenting proposals for building golf courses in various regions of this economically powerful country and making necessary preparations to begin construction.
After familiarizing himself with the golf course projects proposed for Arkadag and Awaza, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty, Hero Arkadag, met with Eric Stewart, Executive Director of the "Turkmenistan–USA" Business Council.
Eric Stewart expressed his joy at seeing Hero Arkadag in America and emphasized the high interest of US business circles in developing mutually beneficial relations with Turkmenistan, which possesses great economic potential.
Hero Arkadag noted that relations between Turkmenistan and the USA are currently developing in various directions, with business structures from both countries actively participating in joint projects. He stated that there are enormous opportunities for further expanding cooperation based on mutual respect and trust.
During the meeting, it was noted that the development of investment relations between the two countries is identified as a key direction of international cooperation. This will facilitate the development and strengthening of relations established on a mutually beneficial basis.
Hero Arkadag highlighted the need for regular meetings, which are vital for developing relations between Turkmen and US business structures in promising sectors. This will provide a powerful impetus for further mutually beneficial cooperation. In this context, the contribution of American companies to realizing the country’s economic potential was noted.
It was mentioned that for many years, major American companies such as "Boeing," "General Electric," "John Deere," "CASE," and "Nicklaus Companies" have been implementing important projects in Turkmenistan. Hero Arkadag noted the consistent development of relations between the business structures of the two countries over several years.
The Executive Director of the "Turkmenistan–USA" Business Council emphasized that necessary efforts are being made to establish, develop, and strengthen relations between the economic structures of both nations.
At the end of the meeting, Hero Arkadag and the Executive Director of the "Turkmenistan–USA" Business Council exchanged best wishes and expressed confidence in the further development of long-term mutually beneficial cooperation.
Subsequently, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, headed to the "Panther" National Golf Club.
Hero Arkadag was warmly welcomed here, and representatives of the golf club briefed him on the design features and unique conditions of the courses. It was noted that in the USA, as in many countries, vast opportunities are created for mass participation in golf.
Familiarizing himself with the layout and quality of the courses, Hero Arkadag noted that the existing golf course in Ashgabat has become a favorite spot for the youth. Announcing plans to increase the number of golf courses in the country, Hero Arkadag expressed great interest in cooperating with American specialists who have gained positive experience in this field.
The golf club representatives, noting Turkmenistan's interest in developing golf, emphasized that they view exchanging experience with Turkmen colleagues and organizing joint golf competitions as an honor.
Hero Arkadag also visited the "Sandhill Crane Golf Club" training center. This center was opened in 1992 and is currently one of the most visited locations.
An exhibition of textile products, which are in high demand on the world market, was organized here. It featured various types of sportswear made from pure cotton yarn. It is pleasant to note that products with the "Made in Turkmenistan" label, produced at the country’s textile enterprises, held a significant place.
As is known, the products of our textile enterprises, which fully meet high international standards for purity and ecology, are recognized globally as sought-after goods. This strengthens the status of our country as a producer of world-famous goods, moving confidently toward the heights of development.
Hero Arkadag then familiarized himself with the facilities of this complex.
Training at the center is conducted using digital system capabilities. The center is also distinguished by its natural features. Hero Arkadag praised the center’s capabilities and noted the effective nature of cooperation in this field. Golf is currently one of the most popular sports in the world, with increasing interest among the youth. Developing golf is given special importance in our country, Hero Arkadag noted.
Emphasizing the importance of defining future directions of cooperation, Hero Arkadag noted that the mass construction of golf courses—an important condition for ecological well-being—plays a vital role in strengthening the health of people, including the youth.
In this regard, attention was drawn to the significance of golf courses as a time-tested effective tool for strengthening relations between the two countries in sports, specifically golf, along with other sectors.
Hero Arkadag wished success to the US golf club representatives, thanked them for the productive meeting, and departed.
Next, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the "La Victoria" equestrian complex as part of his US visit.
This complex includes residential buildings for horse breeders, stables, a training field, a lake with a fountain, and other related facilities. The stables feature stalls, training areas, an indoor arena, and rooms for storing saddles and equipment. An outdoor horse bathing area has also been created.
Hero Arkadag examined the horses, their maintenance and training conditions, and inquired about the preparation of horses for competitions and the work schedule of the "seyis" (trainers).
This complex, considered large in the USA, provides all necessary conditions for organizing equestrian sports events and international show jumping (show jumping) competitions. It was noted that international show jumping tournaments here continue for several months.
From this perspective, it was noted that there are vast opportunities for developing close ties between the two countries in equestrian sports. Attention was drawn to the importance of further expanding cooperation between American and Turkmen horse breeders and enthusiasts.
Hero Arkadag stated that the proposals of the equestrian complex representatives to intensify mutual cooperation would be studied and expressed confidence that relations in this field would develop comprehensively.
During his US visit, Hero Arkadag also met with renowned political and business figures of the country.

Currently, thanks to the constant support of the President, comprehensive measures are being taken to modernize the production capacities of the agro-industrial complex. Advanced technologies and world best practices are being integrated. Modern machinery is being purchased for farmers, ensuring the harmonious development of all sector structures.
During the meeting, key directions of bilateral cooperation were identified. Attention was drawn to the long-term nature of the business relationship with "John Deere," one of Turkmenistan's long-standing reliable partners in the agro-industrial sector.
It was noted that over more than 30 years of active relations, the increasing number of various agricultural machines supplied by the American company to Turkmenistan is clear evidence of the dynamic development of long-term cooperation. "John Deere" machinery, specialized for the agro-industrial complex, operates effectively in the soil and climatic conditions of our country.
Training highly qualified specialists for Turkmenistan is a vital direction of long-term bilateral cooperation. There are excellent opportunities for continuing cooperation in this area. Thousands of powerful machines from this company are currently being used with high productivity in the country's fields.
In this regard, the readiness of Turkmenistan and "John Deere" to expand productive cooperation was reaffirmed. It was noted that in 2026, designated as "Independent, eternally Neutral Turkmenistan—Land of Steeds, fast as the Wind," these relations will become even more active.
At the end of the meeting, Csaba Lejko expressed sincere gratitude to Hero Arkadag for the productive conversation and the trust shown in the company, assuring that "John Deere" would approach its partnership obligations very responsibly.

John Reese reported that following the meeting with Hero Arkadag, work had been done to prepare projects for building a golf course in Turkmenistan. The golf complex to be built on the Caspian shore will include two courses for young enthusiasts. One will allow for competitions. Members will be able to train there, and facilities for international tournaments will be provided.
Building golf courses in Awaza, which features luxury hotels, health resorts, and a magnificent water park, will strengthen its status as a significant resort zone in Central Asia.
It was also noted that the natural features of Arkadag city provide all necessary amenities for a golf course. This will ensure relations in this direction reach a qualitatively new level.
"Nicklaus Companies" has built over 450 world-class golf courses over 50 years, active in 40 US states and 50 countries. This is a worthy contribution to world golf. Developing golf in Turkmenistan will enhance the country’s international sports reputation.
Hero Arkadag noted that developing high-performance sports, recreation, and tourism is a key state policy. Expressing confidence that this cooperation would give a new impetus to golf, Hero Arkadag and John Reese exchanged best wishes, noting the meeting was a starting point for new beginnings.

The meeting was based on the Decree signed by the President on February 13, declaring 2026 as the year of "Independent, eternally Neutral Turkmenistan—Land of Steeds, fast as the Wind," and to further promote the fame of our heavenly horses.
The meeting discussed the high-level organization of events to be held in the country and abroad in 2026.
The motto of 2026 includes important goals. Akhal-Teke horses, fast as the wind, are symbols of our Fatherland’s creative power and its confident steps toward new development heights. In the Eastern calendar, the year of the Horse signifies strength, nobility, and the will to achieve goals.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty noted that horses, the adornment of festivities, hold a vital place in the people’s lives. Thanks to ancestors and masters, unique Akhal-Teke horses are bred. They are the supreme example of Turkmen talent and harmony with nature. Our people deeply respect them, saying "A horse is a dream fulfilled."
At the meeting, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Germany, B. Rejepow, reported on the state of Turkmen-German relations. Germany is a key trade and economic partner in Europe. Relations with European countries are a priority of foreign policy.
The Ambassador also provided information on promoting heavenly horses and ensuring their participation in international competitions.
Hero Arkadag emphasized the importance of ensuring participation in the "FEI World Championship 2026" in Aachen (Germany) on August 11-23, 2026, the Akhal-Teke Beauty Contest in the Netherlands in September, and horse-related events in France and the UK. He gave advice to officials on high-level preparation.
Modern equestrian complexes and racetracks in Turkmenistan and work to preserve purebred Akhal-Teke horses meet high international standards, Hero Arkadag noted.
Concluding the meeting, Hero Arkadag emphasized the significance of high-level organization for these events. This will boost the reputation of Turkmenistan, celebrating its 35th independence anniversary, and increase the fame of Akhal-Teke horses. He called for clear programs and joint efforts, providing wise counsel.
