
Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to New Zealand, A. Bayramov (residing in Tokyo), participated in state events held annually on February 6 in honor of New Zealand’s National Day – Waitangi Day. This was reported by the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During his working visit, A. Bayramov held several meetings with high-ranking state officials to discuss matters related to further strengthening Turkmen-New Zealand relations.
In a meeting with New Zealand Governor-General Cindy Kiro, the Ambassador conveyed warm greetings on Waitangi Day on behalf of Turkmenistan’s Honorable President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and invited the Governor-General to visit Turkmenistan at a convenient time.
During the visit, the Ambassador also met with New Zealand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Winston Peters, Minister of Trade and Investment H. Todd McClay, and members of the New Zealand Parliament. The discussions focused on the further development of political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation between Turkmenistan and New Zealand.
The parties agreed to explore the possibility of holding the first political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, to develop parliamentary cooperation, establish intergovernmental working groups on economic cooperation, and organize bilateral visits.
