
On February 26, 2026, at the "Lancaster House" government complex, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, held a meeting with the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, Yvette Cooper.
During the meeting, the priority areas of bilateral cooperation identified included the development of economic collaboration, including "green" technologies, digitalization, and the transport sector, as well as the expansion of cultural and humanitarian relations. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Following the talks, mutual interest in further strengthening Turkmen-British cooperation was reaffirmed, and the future possibilities of organizing high-level visits were discussed. Subsequently, several bilateral documents were signed.
On the same day, a working lunch for the foreign ministers of Central Asian countries and the UK was organized on behalf of the head of the British foreign office. During the conversation, views were exchanged on regional cooperation, security, sustainable development, and interregional interaction issues.
Speaking during the meeting, Rashid Meredov outlined specific proposals for expanding practical cooperation, including the launch of joint educational programs and initiatives to create a new format called the "Turkmenistan–UK Cultural Dialogue." The meeting also emphasized the importance of supporting the peaceful development of Afghanistan through the implementation of infrastructure projects, including the TAPI gas pipeline, power transmission lines, and the construction of railways in the Afghan direction.
The meeting noted the expediency of expanding technical and advisory cooperation by involving British legal and consulting companies to increase the transparency of cross-border trade, as well as the implementation of digital solutions.
