According to AVC, retail sales of color TVs in China reached 27.63 million units in 2025, down 10.4% from 2024, marking the lowest level in nearly 10 years.
2016 was the peak year, with sales reaching 50 million units. Since then, the market has been declining, dropping below 40 million units in 2021.
Despite a 1.8% growth in the first half of 2025, sales fell to 13.88 million in the second half, a 20% decline from the same period last year, resulting in a new annual low.
The continued low sales are mainly due to weakened demand, as mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets occupy users’ time, raising questions about the necessity of TVs.
AVC predicts that retail sales of TVs in China will reach 27.06 million units in 2026, 2.1% lower than the previous year.
