The U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan is inviting English language teachers to participate in a free online programme focused on modern methods of teaching academic writing.
The Teaching English Academic Writing to Speakers of Other Languages (TEAW) course is conducted within the framework of the Online Professional English Network (OPEN) programme, implemented with the support of the U.S. Department of State. The programme is designed for English language teachers and provides an opportunity to learn practical methods aimed at developing students’ academic writing skills.
During the course, participants will strengthen their knowledge in such important areas as properly identifying the structure of an academic text, clearly presenting the main idea and thesis statements, using evidence appropriately, and preparing introduction and concluding sections.
The course will also cover effective approaches to improving the content of written assignments, presenting ideas coherently, and developing students’ academic writing skills.
The course is conducted entirely online. This allows English language teachers working in different regions of Turkmenistan to participate in the lessons from their own locations.
Teachers who wish to participate in the TEAW MOOC course can register until September 28, 2026.
The course is one of the free educational opportunities available to English language teachers to improve their professional skills in academic writing and learn new methods for teaching students writing skills more effectively.
