WhatsApp Adopts Telegram Feature: Group Chat History for Newcomers

WhatsApp has introduced a feature long available in Telegram — the ability to send chat history to new members in group chats. Admins and participants can now quickly bring newcomers up to speed without forwarding individual messages or screenshots.

Users can send the last 25, 50, 75, or 100 messages. Chats remain protected by end-to-end encryption. New members only see the selected portion of history, and the delivery appears in the chat as a separate notification showing the time and sender.

Admins can control the feature availability in group settings but retain the right to use it regardless of the general setting. The update is rolling out across platforms and will gradually be available to all users.
