
The Youth Chess Championship of Turkmenistan has concluded in the capital. The award ceremony for the winners and prize recipients was held at the Specialized Chess and Checkers School of Ashgabat.
The competition, held from January 25 to February 1, brought together nearly 500 young chess players from all regions of the country, competing for medals. The championship covered six age categories for boys and girls: under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18.
The chess players competed under the Swiss system in three formats:
Although official age categories begin from 8 years old, by decision of the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan, outstanding players under the age of 6 were awarded special medals and Certificates of Honor in all three formats.
This initiative aims to promote chess among children from an early age. Recognition of achievements at such an initial stage will motivate young athletes to continue systematic training and achieve high results in the future.
