
Representatives of the Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan won prestigious awards at the World Youth STEM Invention Innovation (WYSII – 2026) competition, held from January 29 to February 2 in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand.
Patma Igdyrova, a lecturer-researcher at the Department of Chemical Technologies of the Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University, participated in the international conference “INTERACT – 2026” focused on education, scientific research, management, leadership, and creative transformation. She successfully presented her research on methods for extracting bioactive substances from the mandrake plant. Her innovative approaches to studying the metabolism of compounds found in medicinal plants received high praise from international experts. As a result, the Turkmen scientist was awarded two prestigious honors: the “INTERACT – 2026 INNOVATIVE EDUCATOR AWARD” for innovation in education and the “GOLD AWARD” for the significance and innovative nature of her research.
At the WYSII – 2026 competition, the project titled “Innovative Methods for Producing Environmentally Friendly and Highly Durable Keratin-Based Bioplastic Materials” by third-year student of the Faculty of Chemical and Nanotechnologies, Mekan Rozmyradov, was highly recognized by the jury and ranked among the top five projects in the “Ecology and Sustainable Development” category.
For his research, Mekan Rozmyradov received the competition’s highest honor — the gold medal.
The achievements of Turkmen scientists once again highlighted the strong research potential of the Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University, as well as the practical value and effectiveness of its scientific studies.
