The Board of the BBC has appointed a new Director-General. Matt Brittin, who previously served as Google's head for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa regions, has been selected for the role. Brittin will take up his new position on May 18 of this year, with an annual salary of £565,000. Until then, Matt will familiarize himself with the company's operations. In the meantime, Rhodri Talfan Davies will serve as the acting Director-General. It is worth noting that Matt Brittin worked at Google from 2016 to 2025. He is also a board member of the Guardian Media Group, the owner of The Guardian publication.
