
On Tuesday in Brussels, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Belgium, Sapar Palvanov, met with Patrick Child, Deputy Director-General of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Environment. During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for mutual cooperation in the field of ecology. This was reported by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium.
During the conversation, the parties looked into developing cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union on environmental protection and sustainable management of natural resources. It was noted that bringing the cooperation between the EU and Central Asia to a strategic level opens up additional opportunities for intensifying negotiations.
Special attention was paid to water resource issues, which are becoming one of the main indicators of the region's sustainable development.
The parties emphasized the need for further institutionalization of cooperation, including the development of framework mechanisms and "roadmaps."
Following the negotiations, mutual interest in developing cooperation and expanding practical dialogue regarding environmental protection and sustainable development was confirmed.
On the same day in Brussels, a meeting was held between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan Sapar Palvanov and Mounir Satouri, a Member of the European Parliament and Chair of the Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI).
