A Major Breakthrough in Technology: "Bitdeer" to Build the First Data Center in Turkmenistan
Within the framework of the "My White City Ashgabat" international conference held in the capital, a historic agreement was reached that will elevate Turkmenistan's digital infrastructure and high-technology sector to new heights. Headquartered in Singapore, "Bitdeer Technologies Group"—one of the world's leading technology companies—announced its plans to establish its first state-of-the-art data processing center (Data Center) in Turkmenistan.
A historic event took place just before this grand project. Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Communication, and the Ministry of Finance and Economy officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the "Bitdeer Technologies Group" technology team. This strategic agreement represents a giant step forward in integrating high-performance computing capabilities into our country's rapidly expanding urban ecosystem.
Speaking at the conference, Houssam Naimi, Director of Partnership and Business Development for the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa at "Bitdeer", emphasized that the new center would have a positive impact not only on energy but also on the entire system of financial, public, and technological services.
In today's global landscape, protecting the information sovereignty of the state and storing data domestically rather than abroad is of paramount importance. Urban data centers are capable of ensuring the reliable operation of blockchain and artificial intelligence technologies, which are gaining increasing support, and will pave the way for the transfer of the world's most advanced technologies to our country.
Furthermore, this project does not impose an additional burden on the national energy grid. According to the expert, the center will contribute to the development of a new energy infrastructure, making it possible to convert surplus or unused electricity into revenue and export it using innovative methods. The revenue generated from this productivity will be defined in foreign currency, specifically in US dollars.
The company aims to actively involve local specialists in the operations and services of the data center. This will create excellent opportunities for Turkmen youth and professionals to gain hands-on experience in the world's most advanced computing centers and thoroughly master international know-how.
The foreign partners, who highly praised the superior organizational level of the "My White City Ashgabat" international conference, commended the effective efforts of Turkmenistan's government officials and ministries to transform the country into an international investment destination and provide modern tools to the private sector.
