
On April 14, 2026, the ECOSOC Youth Forum was officially opened at the UN Headquarters in New York, USA. Turkmenistan is represented at this international event by Gulnabat Gurdova, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Education, and Wepa Gutlyýew, Head of the Youth Policy Department.
This year's forum is held under the motto “Innovate, Connect, and Transform: The Youth Path to 2030 is Taking Shape.” Its primary goal is to unite the efforts of youth, member states, and international organizations in advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The opening of the forum featured world-class politicians, including the President of the UN ECOSOC, Mr. Lok Bahadur Thapa, the President of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, Ms. Annalena Baerbock, and the UN Deputy Secretary-General, Ms. Amina Mohammed. In their speeches, they emphasized that youth are not just the future but the main force of today’s transformations.
The first day of the forum focused on developing inclusive and sustainable solutions for youth, with a particular emphasis on the following areas:
During the discussions, young leaders from different parts of the world shared their experiences. It was noted that the innovations proposed by them would accelerate progress toward reaching the Sustainable Development Goals. Specifically, the necessity of youth participation in global decision-making processes and providing effective approaches to issues such as climate change was highlighted.
The active participation of Turkmenistan's delegation in this prestigious forum is another proof of the great attention paid to youth policy in our country and our commitment to international sustainable development goals. The forum serves as an important platform for exchanging new perspectives on youth policy and strengthening cooperation.
