Akhal-Teke horses bred in Belgium are set to participate in a historic international competition in the Netherlands. During a working visit to the city of Lummen, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium met with Simone Michels, owner of the Stoeterij Ter Bosschen breeding farm.

Currently home to 17 Akhal-Teke horses, Stoeterij Ter Bosschen is recognized as one of the largest breeding centers for the legendary Turkmen breed across the Benelux region.

During the meeting, both parties discussed preparations for the upcoming international equestrian event taking place on September 4–6, 2026, at the Peelbergen Equestrian Centre in the Netherlands. The event will mark a major historic milestone: for the first time in history, the World Akhal-Teke Beauty Championship will be held outside the borders of Turkmenistan.

Simone Michels officially accepted the invitation to participate and confirmed that her Akhal-Teke horses will represent Belgium at the prestigious championship.

Considered a cherished national treasure of Turkmenistan, the Akhal-Teke breed continues to play a vital role in strengthening cultural, diplomatic, and professional ties between nations, uniting equestrian experts and enthusiasts across the globe.
