On the eve of International Women’s Day, the capital of our country entered an atmosphere of high-level vocal art. On March 3rd, two concerts were held at the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theater, becoming a true holiday gift for the residents and guests of the capital. The festive concerts were organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan.
The musical evening, which brought together prominent masters on one stage, became a symbol of friendship between nations. Special guest Albert Zhalilov, Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan (Russian Federation), performed before the Ashgabat audience together with the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan, conducted by the Honored Artist of Turkmenistan, Resul Klychev.
The concert was rich in musical pieces loved by many generations. Works by Rejep Gutlyyew based on the poems of Gara Seyitliyew, as well as golden classics of Russian music by composers such as Alexandra Pakhmutova, Eugen Doga, Raimonds Pauls, Arno Babajanian, and Georgy Portnov, were performed on stage.
After the concert, Albert Zhalilov shared his impressions with a correspondent from the “Altyn Asyr” online newspaper. The artist emphasized that the Turkmen capital possesses its own unique soul.
“This is my second visit to Turkmenistan, and each time the audience welcomes me with the warm hospitality characteristic of southern people. I was born in Astrakhan, so an immediate mutual understanding arises between me and the listeners. I devote myself entirely to my art, and the audience responds in kind; it is a wonderful feeling,” said the singer.
The artist noted that the theater is very comfortable for performing and, despite the size of the hall, retains the warmth characteristic of the Turkmen people. Turkmen culture holds a special place in the guest's heart. According to Zhalilov, visiting the monument of Magtymguly Pyragy was a significant event for him.
“Magtymguly Pyragy is a profound thinker and a symbol of the Turkmen worldview. The true spirit of the East is concentrated in his poems. Sages do not express their thoughts directly; they lead you through deep reflection, allowing you to find your own path. As a creative person, this great poet is very dear to me,” the guest shared.
The concert was remembered by the audience not only for the vocal performances but also for the artistic readings of letters written by great figures to their loved ones. According to the artist, in today’s era of high technology, it is even more important for women to hear living words.
“Every man has his own inspiration. I want men to write poems to their mothers, wives, and daughters more often. There must be tenderness in our lives, because that is what women expect,” Albert Zhalilov emphasized.
