John Ternus has been working at Apple since 2001. Prior to his appointment as CEO, he served as Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering. During that time, Ternus led the development of the company's core products, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and AirPods.

The new CEO received his degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. His years of experience participating in the company's manufacturing and technological domains are seen as vital expertise for the new phase of Apple's leadership.

Tim Cook is not leaving the company entirely. He will continue his work in the role of Executive Chairman of Apple's Board of Directors. He is also expected to remain involved in certain key areas of the company, including relations with government and political leaders of various countries.

Cook became CEO in 2011, succeeding company founder Steve Jobs. Under his leadership, Apple's market capitalization increased significantly, and the company transformed into one of the world's most valuable technology corporations.
