Chinese experts participating in the World Artificial Intelligence Conference ("WAIC 2026") in Shanghai spoke about the tremendous achievements of artificial intelligence technologies in the field of oncology. According to specialists, these changes make it possible to detect dangerous and late-diagnosed diseases at early stages and elevate treatment processes to a more accurate and personalized level.

Professor Liu Yinbin of Renji Hospital noted that the early symptoms of pancreatic and bladder cancer are hidden and often detected at late stages. For example, pancreatic cancer is difficult to diagnose in its early stages, which can lead to dangerous consequences for such patients.

However, artificial intelligence systems have radically changed this situation. Artificial intelligence calculates and analyzes hundreds of gene mutations in a short time, providing great assistance in detecting the disease at its earliest stages.

Doctor Xia Yuhan presented a special artificial intelligence model created to diagnose gallbladder cancer and explained the capabilities of the technology:

  • Under normal conditions, a doctor looking at computed tomography (CT) scans can only see the general picture.

  • Artificial intelligence, however, deeply analyzes the images at the pixel level, detects changes imperceptible to the human eye, and provides more accurate results.

Experts note that oncological approaches are currently changing radically. Cancer, which a few years ago was classified among untreatable diseases, is now being shifted into the category of manageable chronic diseases with the help of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence solutions.

These new solutions demonstrated at the "WAIC 2026" event clearly show that artificial intelligence is already actively integrating into clinical medical practice and represents a crucial step in protecting human health.
