The regional disaster management agency on Indonesia’s island of Bali has urged local residents to use water sparingly amid an increased risk of drought. RIA Novosti reports.
The agency’s warning highlights the need to conserve water resources during the dry season. It is in effect from October 21 to 31. Different levels of meteorological drought risk have been declared in several districts across the island.
Residents have also been advised not to burn rubbish or plant waste and to ensure that cigarette butts are fully extinguished to prevent fires. In addition, they have been reminded to unplug electrical appliances before leaving home and to make sure that fires lit for religious rituals have been completely put out.
