On September 2, bilateral consular consultations involving the heads of the consular services of the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan were held in the city of Ashgabat.

The meeting focused on the current state of consular cooperation between the two countries and opportunities for its further development. The parties also reviewed issues related to protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens of both states, as well as cooperation in migration, legal, and law enforcement fields.

During the consultations, special attention was paid to preventing situations related to dual citizenship, the situation of Turkmen citizens studying in higher education institutions in Azerbaijan, and enhancing the effectiveness of interaction between the relevant state agencies of the two countries.

The parties also discussed prospects for expanding cooperation between migration services and continuing the exchange of experience in this area.

Following the consultations, representatives of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan signed the Protocol of Consular Consultations. The document outlines the main outcomes of the negotiations and the agreements reached on the further development of consular relations.
