The city of Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation, is once again becoming the economic and cultural center of the Islamic world. Preparations for the 17th International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum-2026," to be held from May 12 to 17, 2026, have entered the final stage.
According to the report by the Head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, at a meeting of the Russian intergovernmental organizing committee, several important meetings are planned within the forum. Specifically, a meeting between the co-chairs of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Tatarstan and Turkmenistan is expected. These talks will elevate trade and investment relations between the two brotherly nations to new heights.
This year's event holds special significance as Kazan has been declared the "Cultural Capital of the Islamic World." The forum's business program will include the following areas:
According to the organizers, Turkmenistan will showcase its national pavilion at the forum's exhibition area. It will widely present the country's economic potential, major ongoing investment projects, and export opportunities.
To create convenient conditions for foreign guests, special 24-hour consular points will operate at Moscow and Kazan airports from May 10 to 20. This will ensure accelerated visa and other documentation processes for participants coming from more than 60 countries.
Considering that about half of Tatarstan's foreign trade turnover involves member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), this forum is a guarantee of both economic and strategic partnership. More than 120 events to be held at the "Kazan Expo" center will drive the establishment of new business relations in regional and global markets.
