
During the first five months of 2026, Turkmenistan has achieved great success in the fields of science, education, healthcare and sports. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister B. Mammedov at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
During the reporting period, 116 people were admitted to postgraduate studies and as candidates for scientific degrees. Also, 31 doctoral and candidate dissertations were defended, contributing to the increase of scientific potential.
Work on modernizing the educational system and introducing advanced methods continued. Students and pupils actively participated in international competitions, winning a total of 871 medals.
In the healthcare sector, innovative methods for the prevention and treatment of diseases are being consistently introduced. Various operations and treatment courses were carried out for children at the expense of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship.
Also, this year, important strategic documents were approved — the National Strategy for the Development of Scientific-Medical Diplomacy for 2026–2052 and the National Strategy for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases for 2026–2030.
Turkmen athletes showed high results in international competitions, winning a total of 301 medals over the five months.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed to further improve the work of the science, education, healthcare and sports sectors. The Head of State emphasized the importance of encouraging talented youth to engage in science and new technologies, improving the work of medical institutions, and engaging youth in mass sports.
