Rural residents respond to the Honorable President’s initiatives to make the country prosperous and ensure food security through their noble work. One such dedicated person is Meret Gurbanow from Chekir village, Kerki District. He is known both as an experienced teacher and a skilled gardener, having taught chemistry and biology to children for 55 years.
About 40 years ago, Meret aga established a greenhouse on his plot and brought lemon and orange seedlings from Tajikistan to cultivate. He didn’t need to travel far for mentorship — his university education, books, journals, and his father’s gardening experience guided him. Properly cared-for seedlings now yield abundant fruit each year.
Meret aga shares his expertise with neighbors, advising them to build greenhouses and grow subtropical trees. Thanks to him, the number of gardeners in the village has increased. His greenhouses grow lemons, mandarins, oranges, bananas, and dates, while the rest of the plot is decorated with flowers and greenery.
— I have been gardening for over 40 years, — says Meret aga. — These trees need constant care. Each tree can produce 450–500 fruits if properly maintained. Every year we provide a rich harvest to the community.
The hard work of this respected gardener contributes to the country’s food security. We wish Meret aga success and long life.
