The «Hidden Shero» project has been launched in Central Asia, aiming to widely showcase the work and life journeys of women who make a significant contribution to the development of society but often remain little-known to the public.

The project is implemented by the «Be Woman» initiative. Within its framework, information is being gathered on the achievements and societal contributions of women working in various fields across Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

The organizers accept stories of women operating in sectors such as education, healthcare, culture, science, entrepreneurship, charity, and public initiatives. The main goal of the project is to document the experience and life paths of such women and preserve them for future generations.

Women can nominate themselves for the «Hidden Shero» project. There is also the opportunity to be nominated as a candidate by colleagues, friends, or other loved ones.

According to the project's selection criteria, special attention is paid to women who have achieved genuine results in their professional fields, are capable of turning new ideas into practical initiatives, and stand out for their useful work for society. Furthermore, the goal is to uncover the stories of women who are rarely mentioned in the media and remain «in the shadows» due to their modest work.

Women from Turkmenistan can also participate in the project. Applications for candidacy are accepted via a special website: bewoman.asia/hiddenshero.

Particular attention is paid to the confidentiality of participants' personal data. All applications are reviewed under conditions of privacy. Information about a woman's life journey and activities is presented to the public only after obtaining her consent.

The «Hidden Shero» project is one of the initiatives created to bring the experience of women working in various fields and contributing to societal development in Central Asia to the wider public.
