A major natural gas deposit has been discovered in Fars province, southern Iran. Information about the new deposit, which could bring the country tens of billions of dollars in revenue in the future, was announced by Iran's Oil Minister, Mohsen Paknejad.

The new gas deposit is located in the Takht region in the south of Fars province. According to the minister, the low sulfur content in the natural gas of this deposit will allow for lower costs required for its development and integration into production.

According to preliminary calculations, the natural gas reserves of the Takht deposit are estimated at 212 billion cubic meters. It is projected that approximately 161 billion cubic meters of these reserves can be extracted.

As noted by Mohsen Paknejad, the volume of recoverable gas is equivalent to the amount of gas produced over approximately 15 years in one of the phases of South Pars, one of Iran's major gas fields.

The new deposit is not limited to natural gas reserves alone. A large amount of gas condensate was also found within its territory.

According to the Iranian Oil Minister, the market value of the gas condensate that can be extracted from the deposit is measured in tens of billions of dollars.

The discovery of the new deposit is of great importance for Iran's energy sector, providing an opportunity to increase the country's natural gas reserves and boost revenues from energy resources in the future.
